Autumn Kioti: curiouser | life in Baba Yaga’s bestiary

October 19, 2017 - November 30, 2017
  • This event has passed.
Autumn Kioti will be creating an ongoing performative installation at WBF, continuing on the theme of work created while artist-in-residence for NYC Audubon at Governors Island. Inspired by tales of the crone/witch Baba Yaga, who according to legend lived in a house on chicken legs, Autumn will paint, nest, and create inside the window on various days throughout the length of the exhibition. Kioti’s work draws its inspiration from the natural world. It addresses societal and environmental issues, and supports her practice of social justice and activism. She creates her own inks and materials primarily from foraged plants and found items. Signed open edition artist prints on velvet fine art stock will be available for purchase at the opening and throughout the exhibit. Original one-of-a kind ink drawings on mylar are also available. 50% of all sales benefit WBF.
