Jenny Kroik’s interest in birds started early, with an interest in classical natural history art such as the work of Albertus Seba. Combined with an illustration background and strong focus on portraiture, her paintings of birds are depictions of the distinct character of each bird. She is also interested in the relationship between humans and birds, and wanted to depict the love and care that the staff and volunteers at the Wild Bird Fund give to their feathered patients. Some of the works in the show are exclusively about that relationship, and some are heroic portraits of the amazing birds she has met at the WBF in the past year.

A NYC based painter and illustrator, Jenny Kroik has received a BFA in Illustration and Animation from the Art Institute of Boston, and an MFA in Painting from the University of Oregon.
